Croeso pawb,
Its been a little busy over the past few months so apologies for no updated blog.
We are well into autumn now and that for us means estate/habitat management work across the entire estate, which is around 15 sites across the county - I know the number keeps changing always growing never getting less !
We have been very busy at our Morfa Berwig LNR conducting our usual autumn/winter work thankfully this year the weather was on our side and the contractors manged to complete all the work without turning the site into a mud bath.

Water Voles are a priority species at Morfa Berwig and it has been some time since the looked at the ditches and overhanging trees, under the supervision of an experienced Water Vole ecologist the work was carried out to a very high standard improving the habitat not only for Water Voles but also undoubtedly a wide range of invertebrates.
A full Water Vole survey is planned for 2027 to establish their current status at the site.

A glimmer of hope for the site was the discovery by Butterfly Conservation volunteer Tomos Parker of a egg sack of the Wasp Spider Argiope bruennichi.

There have been some good raptor sightings at Pembrey Burrows & Salting's with Marsh and Hen Harriers, Peregrine, Goshawk, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard Red Kite, and Kestrel all recorded in a single week.
With the current run of proper autumn storms will the weather return to something more normal?
Hwyl.
